Davey Gene McCorkle
July 7, 1939 ~ Feb. 15 , 2022

Davey Gene McCorkle passed away on February 15th 2022, surrounded by his family.  He was 82 years old.  There will be memorial service at a later date and has asked his ashes be spread at Possum Kingdom Lake in North Texas. Funeral arrangements by Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Davey was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on July 7th 1939 to Orval Eugene McCorkle and Elba Joyce Walker.  Davey attended Polytechnic High School and played football and starting center until graduating in 1957.  After high school Davey stayed home and attended Texas Christian University for two years until leaving school in1959 to become a lineman for Texas Electric.   He worked for Texas Electric up until being drafted in 1966 by the US Army.  In that same year of 1966 he married Judy Carol Thom.  Davey stayed the course in the Army as required until Honorably Discharged in 1968.  In 1969 Davey went on to start work for the Texas Turnpike Authority.  While working for the Turnpike Authority Davey studied to become a Master Electrician and did so in June 1977.  After becoming a Master Electrician, Davey started his own electrical business named Fingers Electric and ran the business until the economy was taken under by the recession.  He moved his family to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1988 to start work at the Hoover Dam as a Master Electrician where he went on to win awards for re-establishing lost power in the Dam one evening.  He remained in Las Vegas for 6 years until he found work in Texas and strong urge to move home to be closer to family.  In 1994 he started work for telecom firm MCI until 2002 and from then the economy collapsed and he finally retired.  He stay married to Judy McCorkle for 41 years up until her illness and death in 2008.  He continued to work off and on as his health would let him.  When he was not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the lake with his two sons, boating, camping and shooting and collecting firearms.

He was proceeded in death by his mother Elba Joyce Phipps in November 1991, his father Orval Eugene McCorkle January 1981 and a daughter Regina McCorkle who died at birth in February 1969.

He is survived by his two sons David Lance McCorkle of Jonesboro, Texas formerly of Las Vegas, Nevada and Daniel Eugene McCorkle of Jonesboro, Texas
