He was well loved and was an amazing bonus dad to many in his life, beloved brother and uncle and great friend. As one of his nurses shared, that they were in awe to see so many people come and visit him every day; he was truly a special man.

One great memory he would share was when he was 16, he entered the Golden Glove Boxing in Waco, Texas . He knocked out his first opponent in 14 seconds in one hit. The second opponent was 2 hits and 39 seconds before taking him down to win the Golden Gloves. D.G loved being involved with youth sports and was proud of his time helping to coach the Brazos Valley Champs Baseball team in China Spring, Tx. In 1966, they won the Brazos Valley Championship title. He also spent his time being a football ref in the Central Texas area.
