Cyril Eugene (Gene) Smith
July 6, 1936 ~ May 12, 2020

Cyril Eugene Smith, age 83, of Valley Mills, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior and his beloved Frankie of 65 years on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.  Memorial service will be held 2 PM Sunday, May 17, 2020, at the Patton Baptist Church with Pastor Pat Cummings officiating under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Gene was born on July 6, 1936, in McGregor, Texas, to Cecil Eugene and Estella (Kliebrink) Smith. Gene served our country with the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1968, serving during the Vietnam War. After his discharge he took employment with Lone Star Gas Company until joining Central Freight as an interstate driver. Upon his retirement from Central Freight he contracted with the U.S. Postal Service picking up mail in Bosque and McLennan counties until deciding to stay home and take care of the farm full time. Gene was an active member of the John Armstrong Masonic Lodge in Valley Mills since 1978. He was the Worshipful Master of the Lodge also holding the title of Lodge Treasurer for many years. He was also a member of Waco Grand Karem Shriners, during such time Gene and Frankie's passion was driving the handicapped children back and forth to Galveston Island for treatment.

Gene was a devout member of Patton Baptist Church. He was very involved in the church and considered all to be very close family and friends. He loved his church family and Patton Baptist Church.

Gene is survived by his daughter Rebecca (Becky) Elaine Smith and grandson Joshua Ty West. He was the loving husband to Frankie Lee (Clements) Smith (who preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 2020) and loving father to his children Ronald (Bucky) Smith (also preceding his in death on Dec. 30, 2014).

Gene was loved by all and left this earth feeling very Blessed and Highly Favored . He will be missed.
