Curtis Daren Wiethorn

August 12, 1951 – October 24, 2026

Curtis Daren Wiethorn, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, leaving behind a loving family, cherished memories, and a legacy built on hard work, devotion, and love.

Curtis was born on August 12, 1951, in Waco, Texas, to Alfred and Helen Quebe Wiethorn. He grew up in McGregor, Texas, and was a 1969 graduate of McGregor High School. He attended Tarleton State University and Texas State Technical College (TSTC). He married the love of his life, Neta Jo Lehrman, on April 2, 1982.

Curtis was a hardworking man with a heart for his family and community. He dedicated much of his life to serving the people of Valley Mills and the surrounding areas. Over the years, he and Neta owned and operated a meat processing plant, Wiethorn Food Store, and Wiethorn Catering. Known for his delicious barbecue, sausage, and ribs, Curtis had a gift for bringing people together through good food. From family gatherings to weddings and celebrations throughout the community, his cooking became part of countless cherished memories. His recipes, passed down through generations, will continue to be enjoyed and shared, carrying on a tradition of love, family, and togetherness. He took pride in his work, building not only businesses but lasting relationships with the people he served.

Curtis believed in giving back to the community he called home. He faithfully served on the Valley Mills City Council for 30 years and was an active member of the Rotary Club. His commitment to public service reflected his love for his community and his desire to make it a better place for those around him.

A lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Curtis was baptized and confirmed in the church that would remain an important part of his life. His faith was the foundation upon which he built his life, and his love for his church family was returned in abundance. He loved his church, and his church loved him.

Second only to his faith was Curtis's love and devotion to his family. He was a devoted husband, proud father, and the world’s best Papa. He also held a special place in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews, who loved and cherished him dearly. To Curtis, family was one of life's greatest blessings, and the love he gave so freely will live on through the generations who were blessed to call him their own.

There is no doubt that when Curtis entered the arms of Jesus, he heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” After a lifetime of hard work, faithful service, and love for those around him, he earned his rest.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Helen; brother-in-law Donald Lillard; and his great-grandson, Sutton Zane Davis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Neta Wiethorn; sister Carolyn Lillard; brother Kenneth Wiethorn and wife Tami; his sons, Ronnie Wiethorn and wife Kristi, Michael Wiethorn and wife Penny; his daughters, Michelle Williams and husband David, Jennifer Smith and husband Kevin; his granddaughters, Jessica Burkman, Raygen Davis and husband Taylor, Hannah Burch and husband Wyatt, Jordyn Beadle and fiancé Jacob May, Mackensie and Emily Wiethorn, Marissa and Allie Wiethorn, Jordain and Regan Williams; grandsons Jackson, Connor, and Jay Wiethorn; and his great-grandchildren, Levi Burkman, Hadley and Eli Burch, Josie Lynn May, Stetson and Tucker WIlliams, and Stetson Wiethorn. He also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, along with countless family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Pallbearers will be David Lillard, Kevin Lillard, Ryan Wiethorn, Clark Wiethorn, Lance Wiethorn, and Justin Wiethorn.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31 at Zion Lutheran Church.
