Claudia Faye Stephens
March 31, 1957 – January 12, 2023
Claudia F. Stephens, of Odessa, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, January 12, 2022 at Scott and White All Saints Medical Center surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church with Dr. John Wheatley officiating under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Claudia was born on March 31, 1957 to AD Stephens Sr and June Ford (Stephens) in Waco, Texas. She grew up in Waco, TX and attended University High School.
Claudia was an active and proud member of AA. Claudia was devout in her faith and took time each day to journal and study her Bible. She worked for many years in the food service industry and finally achieved her dream when she opened Claudia's Place in Midland, Texas, which she used to serve her community. Claudia closed her restaurant every third Friday of the month to feed the homeless. Claudia's Place also closed each Thanksgiving Day for business but was open to anyone who needed a Thanksgiving meal. They also closed on Christmas Day to provide Christmas Dinner and Christmas Stockings for the homeless.
Claudia loved nothing more than spending time with her family and when she could not be there in person, she facetimed with her grandkids to read to them and enjoy being a part of their day-to-day life. Claudia was the "fun" mom to her kids—who never knew what color hair she would show up with to pick them up from school—Nana Red to her grandkids, since that was the color of her hair when her first grandchild was born, and "Crazy Aunt Cookie" to her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed gathering with her friends to watch her beloved Dallas Cowboys.
Claudia is preceded in death by her parents and sister Trisha Stephens Guthrie.
Claudia is survived by her brothers: Bubba and Charlotte Stephens, Paul and Dee Ann Stephens, and John Stephens; children: Christopher Carney, Candice and Holt Thornhill, and Cameron and Jennifer Carney; grandchildren: Ashton Carney, Jackson Thornhill, Beckham Thornhill, Olivia June Thornhill, Lincoln Thornhill, Harrison Thornhill, Chipper Carney, and Clementine Carney. She also had many friends that she considered family, thank you all for being there for her and helping to take care of her this last month. She cherished these moments with you.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to The Straight – Line Foundation, 3607 Golder Ave, Odessa, Texas, 79764.
