On November 24, 2021 Christine Sadler McMillan(Meme) gained her wings to walk with the angels.
She celebrated 100 years of life.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church in Valley Mills, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 AM funeral service. Interment will be at the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Memorials may be made to the Cayote United Methodist Church or the Valley Mills Fire Department.
Christine was born June 26, 1921 to Wallace and Frances Lena "Millard" Sadler. She was born near Turnersville, Texas. Her Father operated a Cotton Gin. Christine then moved to China Spring where her parents worked a Dairy Farm. Her family moved to Cayote where they farmed cotton and other crops.
In Cayote, at school, Christine met the love of her life, Neill Nolan(Jack) McMillan. They married January 27, 1940 in Mosheim, Texas. They lived with Papa John and Granny Mc for one year until he went to the Army. Together they had one son, John Nolan McMillan in 1952. They built a home on their farm in 1958 and made 49 years of memories there. Christine worked at Mini Max for 10 years. Meme's ranger cookies were a hit! When Christine wasn't working at the Grocery Store she worked beside Jack farming and ranching up until his death. Christine and Jack were married 75 years.
Christine was a devoted member of the Cayote United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School for 15 years and was President of the Woman's Society for 10 years. Christine was a pillar in the community and loved by all who knew her.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband; Jack McMillan, her parents; Wallace and Frances Lena Sadler, Brothers; Millard Sadler, Rupert Sadler, Hubert Sadler, Billy Sadler and Johnny Jo Sadler, Sisters; Reva Sadler Bohne, Nana Faye Sadler Bohne and Frances Lorene Sadler Schutza.
Christine is survived by her son; John Nolan McMillan and wife Scarlett, Grandchildren; Clint McMillan, Lindsay McMillan, Lauren Poston and husband Jeffrey, Lindsey Stinson and husband Michael, Zachary Hogeda and wife Kara, Great Grandchildren; Niellee Plemons, Landon McMillan, Lakyn Stinson, Jack Ryan Poston, Olivia Poston and Hadley Stinson, Great Great Grandchildren Kasai Majors.
We are eternally grateful for Shirley McMillan's love and devotion to Meme over the last six years. A special thank you to Matt and Barbara Brown, Buck and Lori Alambar, Loretta Hyde, Richard and Janie Woods and her nurse Jessica.
Pallbearers are Clint McMillan, Jeffrey Poston, Zachary Hogeda, Michael Stinson, Landon McMillan, Buck Alambar, Kurt McMillan and Matt Brown. Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Ryan Poston, Phillip McMillan, Tommy Sadler, Kenneth Sadler, Larry Thompson, Curtis Weithorn and Clayton McMillan.
