Brenda Goodwin

Brenda Chris Goodwin, age 60, of Valley Mills, Texas has gone to meet the Lord on August 29, 2022. A memorial services held by the family will be 12 PM noon on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Patton Baptist Church in Valley Mills with Pastor Pat Cummings officiating.

Brenda was born on September 30, 1961 in Heidelberg, Germany to Gary Huckabay and Murlene Shrader Huckabay.

Brenda graduated high school in Portales, New Mexico in 1979 with honors. She married Joe Nixon in 1982 and became a mother to their wonderful son, Charles. She attended Dallas College and obtained an Electrical Engineering degree in 1985. After college she went to work at Texas Instruments where she designed computer chips for Desert Storm laser guided bombs and various projects throughout her career. In 1992 she moved to Killeen, Texas to attend Central Texas College. She had a desire to learn more and excel so she got her Bachelors degree in nursing. She worked at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas and then went on to explore new lands in Fort Lyons, Colorado where she worked at the VA Hospital. In 2008 she decided to move closer to the family homestead in Valley Mills, Texas and began working for the VA Hospital in Waco, Texas. She loved learning and meeting new people along her journey.

Brenda married Travis Goodwin in 2010 and gave birth to their beautiful daughter, Emily. She enjoyed being on the family homestead and all the memories it held. The beauty of the land and animals brought peace to her as she enjoyed adventures from Hog Creek to Mosheim. She had an old spirit that drew people from all walks of life to her. She was a curious soul always learning about history of the people and land she loved.
She would always say, "I've had a good life and have had a great journey".

She is survived by her son Charles Nixon and his fiance Paula of Glendale, Kentucky; daughter Emily Dale of Abilene, Texas and her grandchildren Audrey, Leah and Abraham Nixon of Glendale, Kentucky. And many friends and family near and far.
