Bobbie Doyal (Burns) Hammer, age 89, of Richardson, Texas,  passed away quietly on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Heritage House in Allen, Texas.  She succumbed to a brave battle with cancer and heart complications.   Graveside services will be 3 P.M. Sunday, January 20, 2019, at the Valley Mills Cemetery in Valley Mills, Texas, under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Visitation will be at Foss Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M.  on Wednesday, January 23rd at the First United Methodist Church in Richardson, Texas, with a reception to follow.

Memorials may be made in her memory to either First United Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas, or the American Cancer Foundation.

Bobbie was born on May 6, 1929, in Valley Mills, Texas, to L. D. and LaVada (Freeman) Burns. She will be remembered as an active member in the community of Richardson, Texas where she participated in activities at the local Senior Center, her favorite being the weekly dances. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson serving as greeter and usher.  She volunteered at Methodist Richardson Hospital and tutored at Richardson Heights Elementary after she retired from her position at Blue Cross Blue Shield.

She was sister to Ovella Brown (deceased), Betty Jo Burns (deceased) Clyde Burns (deceased) and Claude Burns. Bobbie was wife to Bob Hammer, and mother to Susan Hammer and Janet Hammer-Sundvall and grandmother to Baylor Estes and Jaxon Estes.  She was aunt to Dr. Mark Burns, Kimberly Burns Bullock, Marla Burns, Glenn Burns (deceased), Claudia Burns, Mike Brown and other nieces and nephews.  If you wish to send flowers you can have them delivered to Foss Funeral Home.
