Billie McCarn July 24, 1929~May 3, 2012 Mrs. Billie McCarn, age 82, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away May 3rd at her home after a short illness. Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Valley Mills. Graveside service will be 11 A.M. Wednesday at Pawnee Cemetery near Kennedy, Texas, under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Visitation will be 6 - 7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sunny Glen Children's Home through the Valley Mills Church of Christ. Billie Jean McCarn was born in Seminole, Oklahoma to J.C. and Jewel Elizabeth (Reynolds) Swindle. She was raised in Sulphur, Oklahoma where she played high school basketball. She graduated in 1947 from Stratford High School. In 1950 she married John A. McCarn in Kennedy, Texas. They were married 46 years. John and Billie moved to Valley Mills where they were members of Valley Mills Church of Christ. She was a member of an art club where she painted all four children a special oil painting of their favorite place to relax. She loved working in her garden. Billie was the BEST card player ever. All the children and grandchildren wanted to play cards with their Meme. Her favorite sayings while playing cards was "It is a Tied game and you are not going to skunk me". She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five sisters and one brother. Pallbearers will be Beau Dromgoole, Ben McCarn, Brent McCarn, Ernest Bartels, Bubba Stephens, Larry McCarn. Honorary Pallbearers are Steve McCarn, Tommy Karger, Dean Renner,Shane McCarn and David Renner. She is survived by her 4 children: Michael McCarn and wife Cindy of Sebastopol, California, Beth McCarn of Valley Mills, Dennis McCarn and wife Ivy of Valley Mills, Bob McCarn and wife Gail of Mosheim; a brother, J.C. Swindle and wife Darlene of California; a sister, Wanda Nawara and husband Sonny of Valley Mills; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
