Obituary

Betty Anderson May 16, 1940~May 3, 2014 Betty Jewel Anderson, age 73, of Waco passed away Sunday, April 27th at a Waco Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Garden of Heaven was in need of a special, delicate flower and our Sovereign Father selected "Betty" to fulfill that space to rest and hurt no more. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Saturday, May 3rd at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Waco with Reverend Denise Bell-Blakely officiating. Interment will be at Waco Memorial Park under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 1212 N 5th Street, Waco, Tx. 76707. Betty was born to Terry and Jewel (Jones) Alexander on May 16, 1940, in Bosqueville, Texas. Betty was educated through the Bosqueville Schools. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She worked for Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center from 1967 to 2013 where she acquired many many friends, who will tell you how she really never knew any of their names but when she called you, you knew who she was referring to. Betty and her three close friends, Annie, Clara and Evelyn would ride to the bus many times to various casinos in Louisiana and Oklahoma, just before her passing Betty took the two hour trip to Oklahoma with two of her daughters and granddaughters where she got to enjoy the slot machines one last time. Although diagnosed with cancer at its final stages Betty proved to be a fighter and flew past the 3-6 months they originally gave her. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, twin daughters: Ruthie Fay and Ruthie May; 4 brothers: Herbert, Terry Jr., Clarence and Ed; one sister: Minnie Lee; one grandson: Dymus L. Lewis and one great grandson Keveion. Betty leaves to cherish her everlasting memories, her husband of 55 years, Doris Lorenzo Anderson; 4 daughters: Betty Sue Davis, Karen (Steve) Gaines, Bobbie (Eddie) Sims, and Doris Faye Anderson all of Waco; 2 sons: Doris L. "Sam" Alexander and Ricky Anderson both of Waco; 2 sisters: Ina Ruth Alexander of Killeen, Louise (Lewyn) Weaver of Waco; one brother: John L. Alexander of California; 2 honorary children: Dee Dee Alexander, Wade Dale Alexander; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. Family would also like add Special Thanks to Providence Hospice and Hospital, as well as her Hillcrest family and Duty St friends
