Bessie Lea Davis July 15, 1927 ~ Sept. 2, 2015 Bessie Lea Davis of Crawford, Texas passed away to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2015 surrounded by her family at the age of 88. Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, September 2nd at First Baptist Church in Crawford with Rev. Jerry Walters and Rev. Jeff Gravens officiating. Interment will follow in Crawford Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 600 Avenue C, Valley Mills, Texas 76689 (254-932-5249). Visitation will be 5 - 7 PM Tuesday, September 1st at Foss Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Crawford Cemetery Association. Bessie Davis was born on July 15, 1927, in Voca, Texas, the daughter of Thomas Charles Whiteley and Elizabeth (Bettie) Davee. On December 3, 1945, she married the love of her life, Bill Davis in Vernon, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Crawford and enjoyed playing country music, cooking, and being with family. She was preceded her in death her husband Bill Davis of sixty years, and her two sons, Donald Wray Davis and Gary Patrick Davis Survivors include three sons, Mike Davis and wife Pam of Crawford, Buddy Davis and wife Deborah of Crawford, David Davis and wife Melissa of Moody; two daughters, Kathy Laufenberg and husband John of Crawford, Wanda McGrath and husband Pete of Red Oak; ten grandchildren: Jerry Davis, Patricia Rogers, Shannon Nors, Johnny Davis, Laura Burkleo, Kalynn Smith, Cody Davis, Carrie Lujan, John Michael Laufenberg, Joey McGrath, and 15 great grandchildren.
