Alvin Morris Reed, 93, of Alvin, Texas beloved husband, father, granddaddy, father in law, friend to all and loved by many, departed on his journey to heaven in the evening hours of May 17, 2021 having had a wonderful life filled with much love and joy.

Morris is survived by his sons Dan, Ray, and Paul,  daughter in law Anne Reed;   grandchildren Lashelle Inman, Dr. Melody Cassels, Amber Sanglier, Megan Satterwhite, Rachel Reed, Jeannelle Benek, Jose Garcia, Danielle Reed, Michael Reed, Jeremy Rivera, and Justin Rivera; great grandchildren Bonnie, April, Erik, Hayden, Brendan, Madison, Kayla, Kinley, Konner, Autumn, Bobby, Bella, JJ, Antonio, Alana and Paxton, Riley, Chloe, Phoebe, Rylena; Brothers William, Walter Ray, Irving, and sister Katherine.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Margaret, infant son David, and Brother Eugene.  He was a member of the Baptist faith and enjoyed many services at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church during his years in Alvin, Texas.  Morris was in the Army infantry Corp and was a veteran of World War II and served in Korea.

He was born in Clifton, Texas and raised his family in Riviera, Texas.  Morris retired from Celanese Chemical Company after 35 years where he was a unit supervisor.  He relocated to the home of his son Paul and daughter in law Jeannette in Alvin, Texas in 2012.  Morris was a man of many skills and great character.  He loved to help others, garden, hunt, fish, and build homes.  He was an active member of the Actions program at the Alvin Senior Center, beloved participant of the Gathering Place socials for people with Alzheimer's and related dementias, and attended daily Mass with his daughter in law and caregiver, Jeannette, until the pandemic.  He participated faithfully in Comp.-U-Talk (a Zoom School for people with dementia) until his final week of life.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be greatly appreciated to the Brazoria County Gathering Place Interfaith Ministries, Alvin Actions, or the charity of your choice.

Services will be held at the Valley Mills Baptist Church on Friday May 21 with visitation hours at 10:00 am, memorial service at 11:00 AM and followed by burial at the Whitney Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

A celebration of Life for Morris's family and friends will be held in Alvin Texas on July 3, 2021.
