Alleen Ella Augusta Miller Stephenson
June 17, 1934 - August 21, 2024
On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, Alleen Ella Augusta Miller Stephenson peacefully transitioned from this earth to eternal life, surrounded by the love of her family. Over the weekend, her family gathered to share heartfelt memories and stories, celebrating her profound impact on each of their lives.
Born on June 17, 1934, in Valley Mills, Texas, Alleen was the youngest daughter of Robert and Zelma Miller. Growing up during the Great Depression on a 150-acre family farm, she learned the values of hard work, resilience, and community. The farm, where her family cultivated cotton, raised livestock, and nurtured various crops, became the foundation of her strong work ethic and deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
After graduating from Valley Mills High School, Alleen moved to Fort Worth, where she embarked on a new chapter of her life. While working at the Container Corporation, she met the love of her life, Leslie Dan Stephenson. The two were married on October 24, 1953, and together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their family grew with the births of their three sons, Alan Dale, John David, and William Robert, each of whom they nurtured with unwavering love and support.
In the 1960s, the family settled in the Arlington/Mansfield area, where Alleen and Les created a warm and welcoming home that became the heart of family gatherings for over 60 years. On their two-acre homestead, Alleen and Les taught their boys the values of responsibility and stewardship, with lessons learned through tending to cows, chickens, and a bountiful garden.
Alleen's passion for sewing and tailoring blossomed into a successful career, including her own business in downtown Mansfield, working for Moreno's Tailoring Shop three times, and working in the fur industry at Arlington Furs, Inc. Her skills and knowledge led her to teach others through classes and mentoring. All her grandchildren are capable of sewing. She was a devoted mother, ensuring that each of her sons had the opportunity to pursue higher education.Alleen was a vibrant member of her community, sharing her talents and passions with many. She found joy in the companionship of fellow members of the quilting guild at All Saint's Lutheran Church, the Survivor's Group of the Red Hat's Society, the Tarrant County German Club, and the Texas Rug Runner's Guild. Her artistry lives on in the beautiful rugs she created, which now grace the homes of her loved ones.
Alleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Leslie Dan Stephenson; her parents, Robert and Zelma Miller; her brothers Norbert, Pool, John, Robert, and David; and her sisters, Velma and Novella.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her sons Alan (Donna) Stephenson, John (Deidre)
Stephenson, and Bill (Lois) Stephenson; her grandchildren Andrew, Anna Leslie, Daniel (Jenna), Timothy (Selly), and Ella (Dustin); and many cherished nieces and nephews. Alleen was a kind and gentle soul, beloved by all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
