A. D. (Abby) Stephens Sr., age 81, of Valley Mills passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at St. Catherine surrounded by family.  Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Valley Mills Cemetery with full military honors under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Visitation will be 5 - 7 P.M. Friday at Foss Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's, Waco, Texas.

Abby was born on October 3, 1934, in Post, Texas, to Henry Chester and Mattie Jane (Brackney) Stephens.  For over 50 years he was an over the road truck driver working at various companies including his own trucking company "A. D. Stephens Trucking". He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He enjoyed fishing, dominos, baseball, volleyball, and socializing.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers:  Bud Stephens, Roy Stephens, W. C. Stephens, Darrell Stephens; his sisters:  Evelyn Allen, Geraldine Brewer, and Oma Faye Carrigan.

He is survived by his sister Marie Custer and brother Ronnie Stephens both of Waco; His children: Claudia Faye (Cookie) Stephens of Houston, John Dwain Stephens of Lubbock, Patricia Kaye (Trisha) Gutherie and husband Todd of Waco, A.D. (Bubba) Stephens Jr. and wife Charlotte, and Paul Stephens all of Valley Mills; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Stephens, Todd Croford, Darrell Stephens, Donnie Stephens, Gary Allen, and Dwain Pierce.
